Please view all of the photos carefully as they form the main description & override all others so feel free to ask for more as we have taken plenty. This is a must have for your Mauser collection & you will not be disappointed. As seen in the photos, it has the pre-war quality not found in modern military firearms. In this condition, basically unissued, this is a very rare rifle indeed. These were manufactured in Berlin by Ludwig Lowe for around 2 years only & specifically for the Chilean Government, hence the model designation Mauser Chileno Modelo 1895 making them very hard to find.
The bayonet is original Chilean but is the only thing not numbered to the rifle. Just picked one up that is chambered in 762x51mm and please dont tell me how unsafe they are my 1893 shots it just fine.
This Model 1935 Carbine is ideal for the Mauser collector.įor more info see pages 79-80 of Robert Ball’s book, Mauser Military Rifles of the World- Fifth Edition. This rare & beautiful rifle is in absolute pristine condition with all numbers matching, right down to the cleaning rod! It retains the receiver stamp of the Kingdom of Chile making a rare find among South American Mausers plus it has all other stamps on the metal plus beautiful, unrestored cartouches on the wood. The rifle even has deep markings on the stock which include the Chilean crest. The rifle looks good and has great markings on the metal which include matching numbers, “crossed rifles” and the “MAUSER” banner logo. It was intended for use by the elite corps of “Carabineros”. The Mauser design, even the small rings, was not done to endanger the troops firing them. 308 is not likely to 'blow up' or self-destruct. Our Assessment: This Chilean 1935 “Carabineros” Carbine was purchased from Mauser Oberndorf during the mid 1930’s. The Chilean Mausers are beautifully machined pieces of work. Overall it is in about Very Good condition. It shows scrapes, discoloration and surface creasing. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.īox, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with an unmarked leather sling. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition. The bottom metal shows a small amount of light surface erosion. The thinned portions of the metal show discoloration from oxidation. The metal shows scrapes, small scratches and areas of thinning. Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 92% of its metal finish. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.īore Condition: The grooves are grey and the rifling is deep. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The wood shows numerous scrapes, scratches and compression marks. Stock Configuration & Condition: The buttplate shows scrapes, small scratches and oxidation. The rear sight is a “V” notched blade attached to a sliding escalator that is marked from “1-14”. I get the best accuracy with 140-150grn boat tails. I believe Chile along with some other South American countries went to a lighter load using 139 to 155grn. The original Spanish military load for the 1893's was a 173grn.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post set between 2 protective ears. 7mm Mauser ammo is easy to find, so is brass, and there's a huge selection of bullets to reload. There are other small stampings on the rifle including “stars” and “crowned letters”. The left side of the butt is marked with the Chilean crest, “1935” and “C IA E in a circle”.
The nosecap and barrel band are marked with the last 2 digits of the serial number. The bolt handle and bottom metal (twice) are marked with the serial number. Shot my first deer with it when I was 14. He sporterized the (original) stock and its been a light, good handling little gun ever since.
The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number and “MAUSER-WERKE A.G. Back in the 60s, my brother picked up this nice little 95 Chilean Mauser. The top front of the receiver is marked “CHILE / crossed rifles / ORDEN Y PATRIA / MODELO 1935” and the top rear is marked with the “MAUSER” banner logo. The second portion of the import mark is double stamped & mostly illegible. Markings: The import mark on the barrel reads “STERLING N.J.”.
